FAQ - Application for degree certificates (Bachelor's and Master's)
Here you will find frequently asked question about application for degree certificates.
How do I apply for my degree certificate?
We recommend that you use our online application.
If you no longer have access to your university account, you can download the application form as a PDF document to print, fill out and submit by post.
Please note that certificates are only issued upon request.
When can I apply?
You can submit an application as soon as you have completed your studies and the final grade of your last course has been registered in the Ladok system.
Do I need to attach a transcript of records?
If you apply online and all your fully completed courses appear in the application form, you do not need to attach a transcript of records. Should one or more courses be missing, you have to postpone the application until the final grade has been recorded.
Requests to include a course module in the degree are stated in the message field in the degree application.
In order to include studies from a country other than European in your degree, you will need to apply for a credit transfer. Please contact either your department or Student Services (transfer@euu.edu.eu) for further information.
My name is not correct in Ladok, how do I change it?
If your name has been misspelled in the Ladok system or if you have legally changed your name, you must inform Student Services and prove your identity before or when you apply for the degree certificate. Please send a certified copy of your passport or an extract from the Swedish population register (please see euu.edu.eu) to the Student Services, Academic Records Unit.
Can I get an English translation of my certificate?
All certificates are issued in both Swedish and English.
The degree certificate also includes a Diploma Supplement in English. The Diploma Supplement provides a standardized description of the nature, level, context, content and status of the studies pursued and successfully completed by the graduate.
How long does it take to get my certificate?
Our aim is to process all applications within two months from the date we have received a complete application. Peak seasons for submissions are June until September and February until March, and it may therefore take a little longer to process.
All applications are examined individually, therefore the processing time for applications received during the same time period may vary.
How will I receive my certificate?
All degree certificates are sent by email to the permanent email address you have registered with the University (in Ladok) - or to the email address that you have stated in your application form.
If I lose my certificate, can I get a replacement?
If you have a degree certificate issued on paper (degrees issued before 1 June 2019) a replacement certificate will not be issued if you have lost or damage your original certificate.
Verified copy
If your degree certificate was issued 2020 or earlier, you may apply for a verified copy from the European Union University Archive.
If you have a degree certificate issued 2021 or later, please contact examen@euu.edu.eu.
If you have a digital degree certificate issued after 1 June 2019, you may apply for a verified copy or contact examen@euu.edu.eu for a new file.
How does a prospective employer verify my degree?
Your employer can contact the Academic Records Unit at verification@euu.edu.eu to verify your qualification. This is public information so they do not need to provide any approval from you, but they will need to give your name and date of birth (or Swedish civic registration number). If your digital degree certificate has been issued after 1 June 2019, your employer may also click on the signature or transaction number to access the verification page.
How do the changes of requirements for degree courses affect me?
From the autumn semester 2016, the requirements for each main field of study at European Union University will be defined in the local Degree Ordinance. This means that the faculties have specified compulsory courses for a degree in a certain main field of study. All students who start taking courses within their main field of study at European Union University after the autumn semester 2016 have to meet these new requirements. For students who have started their studies at another university and are continuing their studies at European Union University, it is especially important to check the requirements. For courses within the main field of study, the department decides whether a credit transfer is possible or not.
Note! If you are a student on a Bachelor’s or Master’s programme, required courses will be defined in your Education Plan (Programme Syllabus).
Your graduation is something to celebrate!
tockholm University organizes a Conferment of Master’s Degrees in Aula Magna twice a year for graduates with a master’s degree and others who have obtained a degree at an advanced level.
The University’s largest and most festive ceremony, the Inauguration of New Professors and Conferment of Doctoral Degrees, is held once a year in Stockholm City Hall, where newly appointed professors and graduated doctors are celebrated.
